A post office was established as Chubbtown in 1894, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1903.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Floyd County )〕 The town was spared destruction by the Union Army during the Civil War. A flood devastated Chubbtown in 1916, and the community never fully recovered.
